On 'Wannabe' the mic passes from Mel B to Emma to Geri's rap before Mel C lands the big note, and 'Who Do You Think You Are' does the same. The biggest Spice Girls songs are a relay of five distinct voices.
Those nicknames came from a magazine, Geri's exit turned a five-piece into a four-piece, and the group still hold the record as the best-selling girl group ever. The facts behind the hits decide the close rounds.
The difficulty ramps up by round: the 'Girl Power' anthems anyone can shout, the five-way vocal hand-offs, the smoother four-piece Forever era, and the ballads at the edges. Which era catches you out?
Start with the easy points. 'Wannabe', 'Spice Up Your Life', 'Say You'll Be There' and '2 Become 1' are the 'Girl Power' hits that topped charts in 1996 and 1997, and most players name them from the first bar. A Spice Girls quiz usually opens here before the harder rounds.
This is where the group stops being a blur. Mel B's rasp, Mel C's belted high notes, Emma Bunton's soft lead, Geri Halliwell's spoken raps and Victoria Beckham's cooler tone each own a lane, and 'Wannabe' and 'Who Do You Think You Are' pass the mic around all five. Match the voice to the name and the questions get much easier.
Geri Halliwell left in 1998, so every song on 2000's Forever is the four-piece. 'Holler', 'Goodbye' and the album's smoother, R&B-leaning sound catch players who expect the bright Spiceworld pop, which is exactly why this era separates real fans.
The trickiest questions sit away from the singles. The ballads 'Mama' and 'Viva Forever', the slow-burn 'Too Much' and Forever cuts like 'Let Love Lead the Way' rarely get radio play now, so placing them from a short clip is what pushes a good score to a great one.

Expect the 'Girl Power' anthems, 'Wannabe', 'Spice Up Your Life', 'Say You'll Be There' and '2 Become 1', plus deep cuts like 'Viva Forever' and the four-piece 'Holler' that separate the superfans.
The anthems are easy points, but a Spice Girls song hands the mic between five voices, and the smoother four-piece Forever era sounds far from the early hits. Telling the members and the eras apart is the real challenge.
That is half the game. Mel B's rasp, Mel C's belted high notes, Emma's soft lead, Geri's spoken raps and Victoria's cooler tone each hold a section, and 'Wannabe' passes the mic around all five.
The Spice Girls formed in London in 1994: Melanie Brown (Scary), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Emma Bunton (Baby), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Victoria Beckham (Posh). They broke through worldwide with 'Wannabe' in 1996.
